Don't mind me, I just want to steal your soul.

In olden times, less sophisticated people used to believe that having their photograph taken stole some of their essence. These days, of course, we don't believe that but, as Terry Pratchett points out, people in the public eye can sometimes seem a little 'thinner' than normal due to over-exposure...

"The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera." -- Dorthea Lange

The idea behind this page is to provide a resource to some of my photo-bits and some links to photo-related sites.

Camera Clubs

The Cathay Camera Club is the only (we think) English speaking camera club in Hong Kong.

Camera Makers

Pentax - I'm unashamedly a Pentax site. All of my SLRs have been Pentaxes since 1987.

Photo.net is a great resource with just about anything you want to know.

Nikon and Canon - Pro Choice #1 (both of them). You go along to any event with lots of Photojournalists and you'll see lots of Nikon F5s and Canon Eos-1s.

Other Camera Manufacturers - Minolta, Leica, Contax, Hasselblad, Olympus, Mamiya, Fuji. Not all 35mm, just the ones I don't have much daily contact with.

I keep seeing these Twin Lens Reflex (TLR) Seagulls around. Very cheap for medium format. Thinking very seriously about getting one. 6x6 for HKD 500! Not bad at all. - UPDATE: Got a little Seagull before Christmas 1999. It's a fun little toy.

Not everybody trusts paintings but people believe photographs. -- Ansel Adams

I've moved the various subsections of this file into their own files. This makes each file a bit quicker to load.

Cameras

In my cameras page, I talk about my camera bodies (all nine of them!)

Lenses

In my manual focus lenses page, I talk about my manual focus lenses. In my autofocus lenses page, I talk about my autofocus lenses. Pentax is unusual, in that nearly all bodies can use both manual and autofocus lenses.

Film

My films page looks at the film types I use most.
