Spamming Incident
March 28, 2000. Update on the spamming
It's been traced back to rr.com and later to smartworld.com. The bounces seem to have stopped. Curiously, there have been no replies to the address given from people who think I've been spamming them. I think this was a spammer who collected the domain names of people that got his various accounts shut down.
March 20, 2000, 13:00. I've been framed!
Right, some complete and utter moron has decided to spam and given my account as the return address. Here's the spam as bounced into my mailbox:
> Return-Path: <ds3PDYhMe@diaspoir.demon.co.uk> > Received: (qmail 630995 invoked from network); 21 Mar 2000 03:15:41 -0000 > Received: from unknown (HELO enterprise.netics.net) (195.223.184.11)
195.223.184.11 is the login page for 'Messenger Express' and I have no reason to doubt that they're a bunch of moronic spammers. Looks like a bulk email portal to me.
> by mail.ooi.net with SMTP; 21 Mar 2000 03:15:41 -0000 > Received: from jczJbOeyM ([24.28.100.106]) by > enterprise.netics.net (Netscape Messaging Server 4.15) with SMTP > id FRR2XY00.M4V; Tue, 21 Mar 2000 03:29:58 +0100 > DATE: 20 Mar 00 8:23:29 PM > FROM: ds3PDYhMe@diaspoir.demon.co.uk
This From: line is a forgery! I do not spam, I hate spam, I regularly get spammers kicked off their ISPs.
